Website of the Week: canada pharmacy
The Nightingale Network, established July 17, 1998, is dedicated to empowering nurses by encouraging nurses' participation in grass-roots nursing activism.
The Nightingale Network believes:
A. Health care is a human right and B. All citizens have the right to quality nursing care!
Information is empowering. Collaboration is empowering. Our network will act as a catalyst to promote discussion and, ultimately, action regarding our beliefs. We hope you will join us in the evolution of the fast-growing Nightingale Network!
During Nurses Week in May of 1999, members of the Nightingale Network plan to host public town meetings in cities across the United States. We plan to invite all nurses and health care professionals, the public, legislators, hospital CEOs, insurance and HMO representatives and the media to our meetings.
At the meetings, we plan to address hospital and nursing home staffing, the effects of the profit motive and specific cost containment methods (such as the replacement of nurses with unlicensed personnel,) on both the profession of nursing and quality of patient care, the need for inclusion of nurses in facility and community decision-making processes, the pressing need for health care access for all Americans, and more.
The resources offered by our network include an uncensored email list, links to relevant health care websites, a private forum for members, a link to the Nightingale Network's Dr. Robert Dean Stebbins and other resources as suggested and developed by participants in our network.
We are and will remain a grassroots network. We encourage the development of grassroots networks at the local level. There are no national dues, officers or bylaws. We do trust, encourage and invite all like-minded individuals and organizations to join us in this pooling of resources and energy.
